Essential for hatching and rearing day old chicks. Chick Mat is essential if you are hatching in incubators or raising chicks in brooder boxes. We use chick mat in our brooder boxes for the first 3 to 5 days. It helps prevent splays and gives the day-olds a firm surface to grip. An easy answer for keeping the top clean! Heating plates can get very dirty from chicks jumping on top of them. With this new cover for heating plates, this problem is solved for good. The shape of the cover ensures that the chicks when they try to jump on top of the heating plate, slip back down again. The cover is simple to be placed and removed. If your preferred option is to have some light available, we now stock high quality 250 watts tempered (Hardened) glass Infra-Red lamps. Infra-red will still emit a gentle red glow which is proven to be less damaging to eyes than prolonged exposure to white light.
