We bought this and its pretty good. Well made but we have found we have to place it on a platform in the coop which raises it a little so the treadle opens it enough for our bantams to get their heads in there. The training is going well.
Hi Louanne, thanks for sharing your experience. I’m glad the feeder is working well and the training is going smoothly. The 10 cm aperture should give bantams plenty of room to reach in and feed. If you place it directly on the floor of your coop, make sure there are no wood shavings under the treadle, as this can limit how far it opens. Your platform idea sounds like a great solution😊

Appletons 10/10 on products and fast service. Fairly easy to assemble - Phillips screwdriver needed. Packaged to assist with placement of pieces.
We bought the thermal blanket & connector kit. We don’t have the Appletons firm-sided run, but the kit still works to connect the Eglu to our 60mm diamond shaped powder coated wire dog run with cable ties. The sides flex a bit but the connector kit forms the area around Eglu entry so it solved our problem well.
The included hay rack & water bottle on the back is a great idea for night feeding.
We used cardboard to line the shaped plastic base for disposable, warm non slip flooring solution.

Perfect egg trays. Used for chicken & duck eggs. Can be cleaned easily.
We have 2 of these heat plates, work very well with a brooder set up. I’d recommend getting the cover as well to stop chicks pooping on it. Fionna and Gordon are fantastic, we have been chicken keeping for 15 years with their helpful knowledge and service.
Happy with this product. Unfortunately the Weka love them too and promptly stole 3 of them. I have no idea where they are now lol
Hi Kelly, we're glad you enjoyed the rubber eggs! Sorry to hear the wekas enjoy them too! The slightly larger, painted white, wooden eggs will be better suited if you have wekas and pukeko interest. We sell these - pair of wooden eggs. They are harder to pick up and grip in a big weka beak! Thanks for sharing your fun story!
I normally try to avoid plastic, but i needed a waterer that wouldn’t freeze. Took a bit for my girls to work it out, having it at the right height is key. Good quality, so glad i don’t have to clean it out everyday.
solid, great quality - I will say; the little note with it really did not help in getting it to work, the words made no sense and the image was too blurry... I thought I had bought a dud... Then I twisted it differently together and it started working... THEN, when I looked at the image I kinda got what it meant... but would recommend instructions for people like me who have never seen one before. Service was fantastic and the order arrived super quickly. Also really appreciate the refund on overpaid shipping, without me even having to ask for it. Thank you very much for that!

Good product, sturdy etc but I thought these would be warmer than the regular heat lamps and they're not in my opinion. But service was great, arrived fast too. Thank you for combining shipping for me too, really appreciate the refund without me even having to ask

Are you using a reflector with your heat setup? A reflector shade will make a huge difference, as it bounces the heat down to make it much warmer.
