While the strong materials and thought out design makes it extremely hard for predators to get to your pets, no enclosure is 100% predator proof. Check the run regularly to make sure all features are working as intended, including latches, doors and run clips. If you live in an area with a range of predators, including small ones like ferrets, stoats and weasels you might want to consider adding extra protection to your run.

The metal chicken runs are designed to be used outdoors for years to come. However, regulare maintenace is key.  We recommend that you check the run regularly for signs of corrosion, especially if you live somewhere with extreme weather conditions or close to the sea. Corrosion will occur if the coating has been scratched or scraped for example. If you do see some, remove any loose rust and touch up with a weather resistant paint.  If you have covers on your run and experience heavy snowfall it's advised you clear the snow off the roof to avoid the panels being damaged from the weight.

The lower half mesh is 25 x 75mm, and the upper half mesh and the roof panels are 50 x 75mm.

The upper half mesh and the roof panel holes are 50 x 75mm, so smaller birds will be able to get through. If you are worried about this, we would suggest adding covers to the roof and side of your run, or protect it further with some finer mesh.

The size of run you need depends on how many chickens you’ve got, the size of your chickens and how much they are allowed to roam free outside the run. Always aim to give your chickens as much space as you can, either by letting them free range in the garden or by extending the run. Yes, you can secure the skirt of the metal chicken run to the ground with Omlet’s screw pegs to make sure there are no gaps.

The run can be extended to two sections high and three sections wide, but there is no limit on how far the run can be extended lengthwise. It is only possible to extend a half height run height and lengthwise, the width is limited to two sections.

It is technically a portable chicken run, but due to the high quality materials even the smallest runs are relatively heavyto move. Our recommendation is not to move it regiularly and set it up in a fixed position. If you decide to move the run, we suggest asking for help from at least one other person.

Yes, the door can be positioned anywhere on chicken run enclosure, apart from right next to an attached Eglu.

This depends on the size of your run. The covers are wide enough to stretch over one section of your run, so if your run is two sections wide you will need a 2m cover times however long your run is. If your run is three sections wide, you will need a 3m cover times however long your run is. Omlet also offer larger covers: 2x2, 2x3, 3x3 and a 3x4 cover should you wish to opt for a large single cover.

Yes, you can attach an Omlet Walk-In Run to your house or another building. Please note that these are all DIY solutions as we don't currently offer a ready made solution, so speak to a DIY specialist or handyman to make sure it's done safely.

You should wait until the chicks are at least 6 weeks old before you take them outside. It might be a good idea to keep them separate for the first week so they can get used to being outdoors before having to interact with the rest of the flock, but this depends slightly on the breed and your setup. If it’s cold and wet you might want to wait a bit longer before you introduce them to the outside world.

Providing the size of the mesh is suitable for your pets, the run is not restricted to use only with chickens. It is often used as a Walk-In Duck Run for example. We do not recommend using the run for smaller birds such as quails without additionally securing the mesh.

Yes, all Eglus can be connected to a Walk-In Run run with a special connection kit. For the Eglu Cube and the bigger Eglu Pro there are two connection kits available. One for a house on frame with ladder and the  other for an Eglu with the 2m/3m run.

New Mesh Design
From October 2023, the panels of the run come in two pieces, attached together with run clips. This is to reduce packaging and to keep shipping costs as low as possible. The stability and integrity of the run is unchanged, and the assembly process remains the same, the new design just makes it quicker and easier for the product to be shipped straight to your garden. No. The anti-tunnel skirt comes with all runs, whether they are walk in runs for chickens, cats, rabbits or guinea pigs. They are designed to make it hard for predators to access the run. You can choose not to attach it or remove it whenever you want.

It's important to look after your Walk in Run to make sure it stays safe and secure for years to come, and this is even more crucial if you have a setup bigger than 3x3 panels. Always follow the assembly instructions carefully, including positioning of pole stands, clips and cable ties.
 Here are some other tips to make sure you get the most out of your run:
 1) Make sure your build the run on level ground
2) Use screw pegs to secure the skirt and all stands firmly
3) Don't cover large sections of the roof as it makes it harder to remove any accumulation of snow and rain
3) Remove covers during high winds
4) Use Roof Support Poles if you have large covers on your run, or if you want to hang feeders or drinkers from the roof.
