Sugar and Delilah (our Giant Flemish rabbits) love their boxes; not only for kitting but also just to hide and play or snooze in! ❤️Kindling boxes, also known as nest boxes, are placed into a doe’s cage a few days before she is due to kindle, that is, have a litter of baby rabbits known as kits. We placed Snowy's box in her hutch with some hay inside the kindling box and plenty just outside. She got very busy building her nest hopping in with mouthfuls of hay and lining her nest in preparation for the kits. Our kindling boxes are made of untreated plywood with wire mesh on the base and made to the right dimensions. We have a lift up hinged lid which works well give the doe security.

Tips for training chooks onto nipples.
The golden rule for teaching birds to use any type of new watering system like nipples is to remove all other sources of water! As long as they have what they are familiar with they will use it first and will never try something new. If their only choice is to drink from that new shiny metal thingy hanging under the pipe or bucket, it will only take one thirsty bird to try it and show everybody elsewhere to get a drink. To teach your birds to use the nipples, remember the golden rule - remove all other sources of water! When installing the new nipple system, simply gather your chooks around and show them by tapping the nipples with your fingers which cause water to leak. That will get their attention and they learn very quickly.
We recommend 3-4 chooks per nipple.

A dirt bath maintains the water resistance of the outer feathers of a chicken. It also deters parasites such as mites and lice by coating the insects’ breathing pores or simply driving them away. Dust bathing is an important part of keeping chickens healthy and clean. Once fully coated in dust or sand, the chicken will have a shake-down, just like a dog after a dip in a river. A quick preen of the feathers, and they’ll be all done and dusted. Literally. In addition to these physical benefits, dust-bathing is also thought to be mentally rewarding for hens. The Nest-o-Matic is a comfortable and sheltered place for your hens to lay eggs. Eggs roll out by themselves into a covered tray, preventing them from being destroyed by the hens, or dirtied. This system ensures that all of your eggs can be collected quickly, easily and without hassle!
Benefits:
Discourage broodiness in hens, as there are no eggs to sit on, hens will be less likely to go clucky.
The roll out laying nest is supplied with a soft nest pad which is made of antibacterial polyethene.
The softness of the nest pad ensures a comfortable area for the hens to lay. As required, the pad simply lifts out to be washed, dried and returned to the nest for tomorrow's eggs - thus keeping the nest clean, tidy and hygienic, giving your hens the ultimate comfort and with absolutely no hay, straw or shavings to bother with will reduce time spent cleaning your coop.
You will be collecting clean fresh eggs every day, no more soiled eggs to wash, especially during the wetter months.
The nest pad slopes down towards the collecting tray. The sloping floor can be set at three different angles where the eggs will naturally roll into the collecting tray where up to 12 eggs will be held at once.
The lid of the collecting tray hinges and gives you easy access to the eggs. The curtain on the laying nest ensures the hens can lay eggs in a dark and sheltered area, giving your hen the privacy some coops lack, which can cause hens to seek other places to lay.
The sloping roof of the Nest-o-Matic prevents the poultry from sitting on the laying box thus keeping it tidy.
Multiple Nest-o-Matics can be attached to each other with the supplied mounting kit. This way you can connect several Nest-O-Matics to each other depending on your flock size!
The Nest-o-Matic is made of durable material. The plastic parts are made of UV resistant and high-quality ABS and the body is galvanised sheet metal with a minimum of 1 mm thick. The tray base and lid are made of tough, long-lasting ABS plastic.
