The Nest-o-Matic is a comfortable and sheltered place for your hens to lay eggs. Eggs roll out by themselves into a covered tray, preventing them from being destroyed by the hens, or dirtied. This system ensures that all of your eggs can be collected quickly, easily and without hassle! 

Benefits:

  • Discourage broodiness in hens, as there are no eggs to sit on, hens will be less likely to go clucky.
  • The roll out laying nest is supplied with a soft nest pad which is made of antibacterial polyethene.
  • The softness of the nest pad ensures a comfortable area for the hens to lay. As required, the pad simply lifts out to be washed, dried and returned to the nest for tomorrow's eggs - thus keeping the nest clean, tidy and hygienic, giving your hens the ultimate comfort and with absolutely no hay, straw or shavings to bother with will reduce time spent cleaning your coop.
  • You will be collecting clean fresh eggs every day, no more soiled eggs to wash, especially during the wetter months.

  • The Nest-o-Matic is made of durable material. The plastic parts are made of UV resistant and high-quality ABS and the body is galvanised sheet metal with a minimum of 1 mm thick. The tray base and lid are made of tough, long-lasting ABS plastic.

    Nest o matic roll-away

    I purchased three of these cages. We have put two up in one of our cages & blocked off the nest boxes that are built into the cage. The result over a week later is sadly not so successful really. We have one bird using the roll away and the other birds are laying on the floor of the cage or finding places once I let me out to lay their eggs. I guess once I get a new batch of hens, they will use it as they won't know any difference, but over all disappointing.

    Your hens are accustomed to laying eggs in their old nest boxes due to familiarity with the location, appearance, and nesting material. Introducing new laying boxes with different materials and potentially in a different location can upset your hens. To transition smoothly, remove the old nest boxes gradually and place the new ones in the same spot. Initially, continue using the previous bedding even with rollaway boxes until the hens adjust to the new setup. Consider using fake eggs in the new boxes to encourage laying. Patience is key as hens thrive on routine and habit, but with time and patience, they can adapt to new habits and make them part of their routine.

    Great for hens eating eggs!

    I purchased this as my hens got the taste of the eggs. So far working well. They only took two days to get used to the new box, so I was impressed. There have been a couple of time when they haven't rolled away quickly enough to the hen got to her egg. The box and mat were very easy to clean. But I am getting more eggs. When I discover the main culprit, she may not be long in this world! Very sad.

    I love the nesting boxes, but still need to convince my hens to use them...they lay under them and in front of them, but as yet won't go in. I have decided that patience is the name of the game, unless anyone has a better suggestion!!

    Purchased one previously and was reasonably happy with the design. Modified it as oval eggs don't always roll away and placed padding in egg catching tray to avoid breakages. prompt service and delivery. Recommend.
