All our timber housing is made to order. Delivery time will be on top of production time. We recommend a depot collection. For depot deliveries please use the physical address of your nearest Mainfreight Depot. For home deliveries please ensure your address is entered correctly. Please note if you are requesting a door delivery there must be truck access, someone needs to be available on site to assist with a hand-unload otherwise opt for a depot delivery. Very easy to order didn't take long to arrive. Took 3 hours for two of us to put up. Easy. Fantastic coup. Would it be possible to give indication of shipping costs at time of purchase.Love the helpful tips written on the wood. Made putting up easier :).

Very easy to order didn't take long to arrive. Took 3 hours for two of us to put up. Easy. Fantastic coup. Only negative thing is that customer should be made aware of price of shipping at time of purchase rather than getting an email saying you owe $300 more than you originally thought. Coup weighs 300kg so I expect to pay freight costs. .

4 nest boxes with external egg collection
Four easy-to-reach laying compartments are provided for your hens. Fill nest boxes with untreated wood shavings, hay, or use our chicken astroturf nest liners. If using wood shavings, ensure nest boxes are regularly refilled to prevent broken eggs. Place a pair of nest or fake eggs in one box to encourage hens to lay. Hens prefer to lay where other hens have laid.

Two-tier drop down roost | No-spill doorstop
Key features include a two-tier drop-down roost rack which folds away against the back wall for easier coop cleaning.
A handy doorstop is also included to stop wood shavings from spilling out when the person entry door is opened. The doorstop is removable.
Person access door allows good access for easy cleaning. Solid plywood floor keep floor litter dry and perfect for a deep litter system.

Give careful consideration where you are going to position your hen house.

Layout?

Best Position and Access
Carefully consider the placement of your hen house. Position solid walls to protect against prevailing wind and rain. It is advised to orient the front mesh panel towards the sun, as sunlight is beneficial. Ensure easy access to nest boxes, as egg collection is a daily task. Additionally, provide ample space for accessing the person door, particularly for cleaning, allowing room for a wheelbarrow.

Need Additional Chicken Access?

Chook Pop-holes
One pop-hole is adequate BUT if you are wanting to alternate your flocks free-range time then consider adding another pop-hole. If you have a paddock to the rear of the hen house and a run off the front then alternate their free range between these two areas. Keep them safe in the run (whilst you are at work) and give them access to free range at the weekends (when you are home) This will require two pop-holes; one in the front and an additional one where required.

Add a Rolled Gutter?

Additional Rolled Gutter
The Batten Hen House is a single pitch roof design. We can add a rolled gutter in galvanized iron along the back if needed, or if you want a roof colour, choose the Colorsteel Endura option. Rolled gutters look good and protect against the sharp corro-iron edge, which could be at head height for some. If you can walk around your hen house, it's best to choose a rolled gutter. Rolled gutters guide rain water to the gutter ends, preventing a dripline.
