The Heavy Duty aluminium brooding lamp set is pre-fitted with a ceramic lamp holder for safety and the addition of a large heavy-duty alloy heat sink for extended lamp service life.
This model is fully remote controlled (supplied) to set temp and forget, saving on both electricity costs and extending lamp service life.
The digital display shows set temp, actual temp and current wattage used. The lamp will automatically dim as the set temperature is achieved, thus not overheating your animals and using less electricity.

Bounce the heat down!
If using a heat-emitting bulb then a good reflector is essential. Using a reflector will trap the warmth and reflect it downwards making it much cosier for the chicks beneath it. The aluminium reflector offers a sense of protection for the chicks and will reduce unnecessary heat loss. We do not recommend using a heat emitter in a lamp holder without a reflector as the heat will all rise - remember hot air rises!

An easy answer for keeping the top clean!
Heating plates can get very dirty from chicks jumping on top of them. With this new cover for heating plates, this problem is solved for good. The shape of the cover ensures that the chicks when they try to jump on top of the heating plate, slip back down again. The cover is simple to be placed and removed. Made of transparent plastic (PET) and very solid. After each use, you can clean the cover by rinsing it with warm water to remove the dirt and dust. The cover is suitable for the new Comfort heating plate models (model from 2013 onwards). Heating plates not included.

How to Use
Remove your pet to a secure pen.
Clean away all old bedding and litter from the hutch and remove solid waste residue.
Wet the floor and wall areas of the hutch with water and mop up excess water before spraying.
Spray liberally onto the walls and floor then brush or rub into treated areas, paying particular attention to areas that were previously heavily soiled.
Leave on surface for 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing off with water.
Leave to dry or mop up excess water before replacing bedding and floor covering.
Essential incubation tool.
This handy little device will come in very handy to double-check your humidity is where it should be! Precision Hygrometers, bi-metal type available in 45mm and 70mm - made by TFA Germany. These hygrometers have a bimetallic mechanism and it's possible to calibrate it completely. You can use it as a rough indication of relative humidity in incubators and Intensive care brooders. The relative humidity is indicated as a percentage from 0-100.
The humidity in an incubator required depends on the kind of eggs and the extent to which the shell is porous. An egg should lose approx 11% to 13% of its weight during incubation. By calculating how much weight the egg should lose throughout incubation, you can determine whether you should adjust the humidity in the incubator.
You can use this hygrometer as an indicator and then by weighing the eggs regularly. This combination is the best method to determine the humidity very accurately. These are one of the best quality hygrometers available, made by TFA in Germany.
The smaller gold one is the 45mm and the blue one is the 70mm hygrometer.
When it comes to incubation there are 4 key things to remember: Temperature, Humidity, Turning and Ventilation. Make sure you get all 4 right!
