The unique treadle operation of this feeder will ensure your poultry has all-day access to their favourite feed. No risk of injury with the unique treadle system which allows your poultry to walk on to the ramp which activates an inwards opening trap door, giving free access to their feed. Even better, the operating system in almost silent which will not spook extra timid poultry.
Better still - the feeder can be operated by all poultry big and small from the smallest of bantams to the largest of heavy breeds. The adjustable weight of the peddle allows adjustments for birds as little as 250 grams to open, if this is too light, then simply adjust to one of the 5 different settings. Built from robust heavy gauge galvanised steel and mouse-proof. For best results, we recommend using this feeder undercover and out of the weather. Minor assembly required upon delivery.

Training only takes approx 3 to 5 days. We recommend not feeding the chooks anywhere else or out of any other feeders whilst in training so they learn to use their new feeder. Try placing a stone on the treadle for the first couple of days so they learn where the food is, then remove the weight and let them learn to stand on the treadle to expose the feed. They will quickly get the hang of it.
To keep the best flow into the feed trough we recommend using a small even-sized pellet in these feeders like the Westons Peak layer pellets. Dry mash due to its powdery consistency will require regular cleaning out to keep the flow moving. We recommend letting your chooks regularly empty it out so the fine dust that builds up with both pellets and mash can be removed.
I have been trying to get my chooks to use their new feeder. They are very hesitant around it. I laid a stone on the treacle to keep it open as suggested, until they get used to the movement but the birds are the only ones that ate out of it. I will keep trying. Great customer service and help. Thank you!!
Very happy with this product. I prefer it to the Chookateria feeder as the oldest feed gets eaten first so you don't get a build up of stale food. My small flock have adapted to it easily. Set on the lightest setting, even my two little pekin bantams can operate it. I do wish I'd have got the smaller one though - for my flock of 6 small to medium chickens, the 8kg seems a bit big. Maybe a good excuse to get some more chickens! And great customer service, as always.
Delivery of order was very prompt - thanks. The chickens were a little frightened when the treadle moved but have learned very quickly. After two days, they don't bat an eye. Their food is now secure from sparrows, etc. feed-o-magic is a good choice.
I submitted an order for this 5kg Auto Feeder and 'presto!', it was delivered to my door the very next day. Fantastic service since I was getting anxious to teach the hens how to use it before I went away at Christmas. I followed the instructions to the 't' and yesterday when the pegs were removed altogether, I lay in my bed listening to the lid go up and down as the hens were happily feeding themselves at 5am.I was worried initially as like a previous review, the hens got to the pellets from the side, but once the pegs were removed and they had gotten used to the noise of the tin lid opening & closing, the hens are now quite confidently eating from the Auto Feeder. It's great peace-of-mind knowing they will be feed and watered while I'm away for 3 days over Christmas. All the neighbours need do is collect the eggs. Voila!!
Thanks Appletons for the Feed-o-Matic my lovely chooks manage to learn in two days! amazing product and great service. Ordered Thursday and arrived Friday. Jo
