Perfect sized auto feeder for all smaller sized fowl like bantams, hamburghs, campines and pheasant.
We have been so impressed with these Bantam Step On Feeders that we have now been using them in our Pekin bantam pens for just on 8 years now. The Pekins take to them quickly (little birds with high IQ's!) We are saving on feed as the sparrows just don't get the opportunity to help themselves any longer. An excellent step-on feeder perfect for bantam sized chooks. PLUS we have been using them in our pheasant flights and they have been working well with the ringnecks and ornamental pheasants. This unit holds approximately. 4kgs of feed. The whole unit is made out of aluminium with alloy rivets, plated steel hinges, nuts and bolts so it keeps working in adverse weather. We leave these feeders out in the runs and pheasant flights and they work well to keep the feed dry.
Overall size of feeding unit is 390mm (width) x 160mm (height) x 320mm (depth). Looks identical to the Appletons Large Capacity Feeder but smaller - photo shows large version. All our step-on feeders come with very clear and easy to follow training instructions.
It took my smartest hen only a week or two to jump onto the step then almost jump into the box as she is a small bantam but the big black bantam cross was quite suspicious. Probably the noise put her off. But now, 7 weeks later she places one claw, yes only one, on the step and as she’s tall leans in and east’s once smartie small bantam has gone! They are so funny and I’m relieved they can use this Sutton Feeder from Christchurch which Appleton’s in Nelson sent me
Bantams got used to eating from it within 2 weeks. While I kept the lid open with pegs to begin, I put some cardboard on the sides to ‘force’ them to feed from the front.I’m saving money and the feed stays dry during any rain - great value for money!
Prompt delivery and communication - thank you. Product arrived well packaged with clear instructions.
Bought one for our other chickens and it works a treat. Have inherited another bantam from a neighbour but our existing chickens won't accept her so she is free range in the backyard!
This arrived quickly, was well packed, contained effective instructions and is exactly what I needed.
