Croad Langshan

We love our gentle giants.

Classification: Heavy Breed
The black croad langshan is a very placid, easy going breed and does best free ranging and not being confined. This interesting Asiatic breed was originally brought from China to Britian by Major Croad in the early 1870’s.The classic U shape between the neck and the tail in the males is characteristic of the breed together with the size of its head which seems smaller in proportion to the rest of its body. We call them our gentle giants. They are a big framed bird with a slightly clumsy gait and the sweetest nature imaginable. Best to raise alongside other gentle natured breeds as can be easily intimidated by the more bossy, dominant breeds. A reasonable layer of brown eggs. The hens make great broodies and mums.

Due to time constraints we no longer have available for sale hatching eggs, pullets and cockerels from our Croad Langshan.
