Supervision and suitability
Always supervise your pets throughout their time in the playpen. Smooth panels help discourage climbing, but the pen must not be treated as escape-proof or chew-proof. Mice and rats can be agile climbers and jumpers; assess your individual pets before use and return them to their secure cage if they can reach or clear the sides.
Keep hides, wheels, tunnels and other accessories away from the edges so they cannot become steps to the top. Check panels, hinges and the floor protector before each use, and stop use if anything is damaged or being chewed. Provide suitable hiding places and enrichment, and supervise children's interactions with pets.
For outdoor sessions, choose a sheltered location in suitable weather, keep other animals away and never leave pets unattended. This open playpen does not provide protection from predators or adverse weather.
Cleaning and packing away
Remove loose bedding and debris after playtime. Lift out the floor protector, clean it with a pet-safe product as appropriate and allow it to dry before storage. Check that pets have been returned to their cage before releasing the hinges and folding the pen into its sleeve.
