The feeder is not rodent proof, but should not attract them if you don’t already have a rodent problem. Spilt feed is the main cause of pests, and with the anti-spill features of this feeder this won’t be a problem. To minimise the risk of rodents, remove the feeder from the run at night when the chickens have gone into the coop.

This feeder is not sparrow-proof. As with other open feeders, sparrows and wild birds may eventually learn where the feed is and take advantage of it. It is best used in a bird-proof run, or you may prefer an Appletons step-on automatic feeder.

To keep the feed fresh we recommend you position your chicken feeder in a sheltered location avoiding rain from any direction, or too much direct sunlight.

Hens need 120 grams of feed per day. You will find your feed goes further due to no waste from the feeder.

This chicken feeder is suitable for crumble, scratch and pellets.
However, it is not suitable to use with particularly dusty feeds, wet/fermented food or grit.

The no waste chicken feeder comes with a flow adjuster which can be used to slow the flow of feed if using a fine grain to prevent spill, or removed if using with a larger grain or pellet.

Omlet has studied the way chickens eat and designed several features that prevent them from making a mess of their meal.
 Chickens tend to use their beaks to rake through feed in search for the best bits, and with traditional feeders this raking creates heaps of spilt feed. Knowing this, we designed the port openings to be wide enough for chickens to comfortably eat from, but narrow enough to stop feed bouncing out.
The Omlet No Waste Feeder also has a lip around the opening of the ports that blocks raked feed, and the geometry of the dish guides loose feed into the lip and then back into the feeder.
On top of that, you can place the Flow Adjuster at the bottom of the feeder to control how much feed is available to your chickens at any one point. As they peck, more feed will be released, but they can't rake through large amounts of feed at the bottom of the funnel.

The feeder is suitable for all types of chicken breeds, including bantams and taller breeds. Breeds with particularly firm, large combs may not be able to use the ports as comfortably. If you opt for hanging your feeder from the roof of your run you can also adjust the height to suit your flock; set the height so that the bottom edge of the feeding ports are level with the backs of your chickens. The feeder has only been designed for, and tested with, chickens, so we don't recommend using it with any other poultry or pets.

Use Omlets purpose designed hanging strap and make sure what you're hanging it from is strong enough. You can hang the Feeder from Omlet Eglu runs and Walk In Runs if from a pole, but not directly from mesh. If you want to make your Walk In Run even stronger, you can add a support pole.

The product has been designed for and only tested with adult chickens, so we don't recommend using it to feed chicks.
The height of the ports will not be low enough for them to reach the feed, and we can't guarantee that the design will work as effectively with chicks.

The chicken feeder has only been tested with adult chickens, so we do not recommend it to be used by other animals.
