  • Appletons Pheasant/Parrot Step On Feeder Appletons Pheasant/Parrot Step On Feeder

    Appletons Pheasant/Parrot Step On Feeder

    2 reviews

Appletons Pheasant Step On Feeder Perfect auto feeder for feeding your pheasants. These feeders are identical to the Appletons Bantam Step On Feeder except for the depth of the feeder box which is what makes all the difference when feeding birds like pheasant. The pheasants do not need to reach all the way in so can peck at their feed easier making it a more suitable feeder for them. The huge advantage of using these feeders is the reduction in vermin. We had big issues with rats, mice and sparrows in our pheasant flights and since the introduction of these feeders what a difference it has made. This unit holds app. 1kg of feed. For best results and ease of use we highly recommend fixing your feeder to a piece of plywood. We can ship one out with your order if required. Please tick the box if you would like one. The whole unit is made out of aluminium with alloy rivets, plated steel hinges, nuts and bolts so it keeps working in adverse weather. We leave these feeders out in the runs and pheasant flights and they work well to keep the feed dry. Overall size of feeding unit is 390mm (width) x 160mm (height) x 320mm (depth). The photo shows the bantam version. The pheasant version has a shallow feeding box so the birds do not need to reach so far down into the box. All our step-on feeders come with very clear and easy to follow training instructions. Training is very important and not to be rushed or shortened. Please only start training when your pheasants are adult-sized birds.

    Insect Medley 125g | Topflite

    12 reviews

Go on spoil them! Our Insect Medley pack provides the perfect protein treat for wild birds, chickens and reptiles. Loaded with calcium and protein, these insects provide essential nutrients (tasting delicious at the same time). For reptiles, insects are an important part of their diet in the wild. They will love the mouthfuls of tasty treats. Let chickens do what chickens do best by giving them the chance to scratch around on the ground for tasty insects. And for many wild birds, insects are an essential serving of protein. Serve them up our quality feed.Chickens are definitely not vegetarian and will love this treat! 100% natural serving of insects for reptiles, poultry, wild birds, and tropical fish Insects are rich in protein and calcium. Chickens are often deficient in protein during moulting season, adding insects to boost protein and aid egg production. Contains crickets, mealworms, and grasshoppers. IngredientsDried crickets, dried mealworms, dried grasshoppers. Nutritional Analysis: Protein 65%, Fat 14.3%, Fibre 4%, Moisture 8%, Ash 3.53%, Minerals 3% Feeding GuideFeed ad hoc, birds will regulate their intake as required.  Place in a feeder or spread on the ground to encourage natural foraging behaviour for wild birds and poultry.Pet owners can feed from two to five insects per meal, depending on the size of the animal and the species type. For smaller fish and reptiles, they will need to break the bigger insects into easily digestible pieces. It is important owners know that these treats should only be served as part of a complete diet. While helpful in delivering valuable nutrition and diversity into their diets no animal can survive on this food alone. That is why many people choose to mix insects with their regular wild bird feed for backyard birds to dine on.

Multi-directional, high flow nipples. Small push-operated water nipples suitable for poultry. Quality high flow nipple drinker made by Little Giant.  Keeps water clean and helps prevent disease. Multi-directional, unlike standard nipple drinkers which require to be pushed upwards to work, this drinker with work with sideways actions too.  Each nipple accommodates up to 4 adult birds. Vertical mounting. Designed for gravity feed  (low pressure) only - please note not suitable for high-pressure mains.  Easy to install: Drill a 1/8" hole for the nipple. Enlarge hole using an 11/32" drill bit. Start threading the nipple into the hole manually. Use a crescent wrench to tighten until seated.  Tips for training chooks onto nipples. The golden rule for teaching birds to use any type of new watering system like nipples is to remove all other sources of water! As long as they have what they are familiar with they will use it first and will never try something new. If their only choice is to drink from that new shiny metal thingy hanging under the pipe or bucket, it will only take one thirsty bird to try it and show everybody elsewhere to get a drink. So just to be perfectly clear, to teach your birds to use the nipples, remember golden rule...remove all other sources of water! When you have installed the new nipple system, simply gather your chooks around and show them by tapping the nipples with your fingers which cause water to leak. That will get their attention and they learn very quickly. We recommend 3-4 chooks per nipple.

    11 reviews

Our recommended choice. These are full, natural size hens eggs. 70mm long x46mm in diameter. Painted over the wood for a very smooth finish and are most consistent to real eggs. Sold in pairs. These are the brood or fake eggs we like to use at Appletons. Keep a pair in the nest box to encourage your hens where to lay. We recommend investing in some false eggs. Very handy to have for a few reasons! We place them in the laying boxes when pullets are POL (point of lay) to encourage them to lay in the nest boxes. Hens will go and lay where there is usually an egg or two so having a pair of fake eggs permanently in the nest box/es is a good idea. Collect the fresh eggs daily and leave the fake eggs as an indicator to your hens. Slipping some wooden eggs under a broody hen to keep her sitting is another reason to have a pair...and fake eggs are solid so cannot be pecked at... collect fresh eggs often, to reduce the risk of hens eating eggs.
